If you are looking for a unique racer cruiser that can be double handed and loves the big blue ocean this is your yacht. Only two owners!
“Sir Edmund” is a 49’ cold molded schooner designed by Chuck Burns and built by Covey Island Boat Works. She was designed to be an ocean racer for an experienced yachtsman and rigged to work efficiently for double handing. The original owner's first yacht of this design, “Sir Isaac,” competed in the 1986 TransPac Ocean Race taking first in her class and first over all. The next year she competed in the Melbourne to Osaka race, a 6,000 mile double handed ocean race, and is still competing competitively today.
Many ideas from these experiences went into the design of this sister ship “Sir Edmund.” Sir Edmund competed in her first TransPac in 2025 taking second in her class with several first timers in the crew. She is an elegant, fast ocean yacht and turns eyes everywhere she sails.
